These traditions include the ethical code of conduct in social life and showing respect to the elders and family. Koreans also believe in sincerity and loyalty and follow certain codes of conduct while meeting, eating, praying and even celebrating. At times when many other cultures would shake hands, Koreans bow. They bow as a sign of gratitude and respect to the person they are meeting.

The seas surrounding the Korean peninsula—the Yellow and East China seas, and the Sea of Japan—provide not only many types of seafood, like tuna, king crab and squid, but moisture for the fertile soil needed to grow rice and grains. For centuries, the Koreans have eaten the products of the land and sea. Korean food is almost impossible not to fall in love with. You can’t leave South Korea without trying Kimchi (chilly pickled cabbage), Kimchi Stew, Soft Tofu Stew, South Korean jjigae (mixed seafood stew), Saengseon Jjigae (fish stew), Dolsot Bibimbap (hotpot mixed rice) and the Jjinmandu (steamed mandu dumplings).
